Sensemaking – Eurosense

Eurosense, A European Citizen Sensor Network, is a Europe-wide citizen science network that wants to make the voices of European citizens heard by activists, policy makers and governments.
By understanding the experiences of citizens in public life, and the pulse of Europe, we will overcome polarisation and collectively tackle the challenges of our times such as climate change, inequality, immigration, democracy and security.

Eurosense uses SenseMaker® to gather real-life stories from various communities. Designed by experts, this tool lets individuals share and interpret their own experiences.
Activists and policymakers can then use this data to identify patterns, emerging issues, and guide positive change.
‘SenseMaker,’ gathers authentic stories from diverse communities.

EuroSense Pilot Project Results Are Here!
The EuroSense Pilot Project Results Report represents a bold step toward understanding polarization, empowering citizens, and building a more inclusive democratic society.
Over the past year, we collected 865 stories from citizens across 24 European countries. These narratives shed light on pressing societal themes such as fairness, social justice, governance, migration, climate change, and community cohesion.

Key Findings:
  • Sentiment Analysis: 61% of stories reflected negative experiences, highlighting deep dissatisfaction with governance and systemic inequality.
  • Thematic Insights: Topics like fairness and social justice (19%) and living together in community (17%) emerged as dominant themes.
  • Citizen Voices: Concerns about societal regression and calls for urgent political action were consistent across stories.
